The native garden is a low water use garden. Somehow, this gets transferred to “No Maintenance” While it’s true, that transforming a mostly all lawn garden to a native garden will result in less maintenance, there is maintenance! You may elect to keep some of you lawn, which will mean weekly mowing. If you elect to remove the lawn, you’ll find yourself doing the following in a native garden:
- Weeding
- Mulching (adding more)
- Trimming / Deadheading
- Removing itinerant trash
- Pest Management
- Checking / servicing drip irrigation & timer
- Checking / servicing low voltage lighting
While all of these don’t have to be done on a weekly basis,
they do need to be done on a routine basis (at least 1-2X per month)
