Aeroponics is a sort of blending where the pond world meets the world of landscaping. For our bigger Aeroponic projects, we use drainage pipe, landscape ties and rainwater diversion tanks from the world of landscaping. From the pond world, we use pond liner and OASE Products pond pumps. Enviroscaoe LA builds large custom Aeroponic systems and has smaller DIY kits available.
Seed to Salad in 30 days!
In view of the debate on GMO’s and the real threat of health challenges due to ingesting food laced with chemical pesticides and herbicides, many have turned to starting their own organic garden in their backyard. As a professional landscape contractor, building an organic garden is simple, but let me enlighten you to the true cost of building a garden. First, there is the raw cost of materials, which include wood (Raised planters), hardware, composted soil, and an automatic irrigation system (drip, or microspray). Add to this the cost of labor and overhead, which includes insurance on vehicles, liability and auto. Then add a 15% profit margin. Let me give you a price “Out the door”. A four foot by four foot raised planted will cost you about $600.00. Then you have the cost of planting the garden. You will need to pull weeds. the water you irrigate with is NOT recycled, so you never see this water again. And last of all, the time….it will take about three months to raise a garden big enough to eat a salad. This is the way we have always done it…until now!
NASA began experimenting with growing veggies in space back in the 1960’s. A method of growing veggies without soil is called Hyroponics. A subdivision of this is called “Aeroponics”. Aeroponics is growing veggies in “Air” with exposure to nutrient rich water.

Why do we recommend Aeroponics for food production in yards? Aeroponics is pesticide and herbicide free! Water is recycled and reused. No soil, means no weeding, no tilling, no heavy compost to turn. Best of all……timing. An Aeroponic garden can take you from seed to soil….in LESS THAN ONE MONTH!!!!!
I did not believe it until I grew my first Aeroponic garden off my bedroom deck. YouTube has tons of time lapse videos, which document these garden growing 1-2” per day.
How do you know the food you buy in stores is not laced with harmful chemicals and pesticides? You don’t! You can buy “Organic” at 4X the price, but why would you, if Aeroponics is readily available and you can be harvesting seeds you plant today in as little as a month from now?
